Then we took a walk around Lady Bird Lake. Those of you enjoying a white Christmas may be interested to know that it was 75 degrees out today… not the most wintry of weather!
Afterwards we came home and opened presents. Aurora got SO MANY GIFTS! Everybody loves giving presents to a sweet little girl.
She got a cute outfit from Teresa, pajama’s from Nicolette, an Ugly Doll and an awesome wooden toy from Kim Barnett, cute little board books from Julian & family, a dolly from Pam, a peacock toy and Mozart Magic Cube from Grandfather Wadey, teething rings and a gift card from Katie, a cute bib and hat from Susanna & Johnny (along with a ton of cookies!), a dalmatian outfit from my Mom & Dad, and more...
My parents also sent a hoodie for Chuck and shower gel for me. Those were two of the few gifts not for Aurora, but for some reason the bath gel was the one thing she NEEDED! It was a near-meltdown situation. Perhaps all the toys and gifts coming at once was a little overwhelming.
I was trying to think of why we open presents on Christmas Eve, and I seem to remember opening gifts on Christmas day as a young child, then getting to open one present on Christmas Eve, and eventually my family decided that we may as well open them all a day early! I mean, why not? Hey, it works for me.

I notice that you folks are wearing jackets in your balmy 75 degree weather, LOL. That's short sleeve weather for us. It's 2 below zero right now in Cheezland, with a windchill factor of 11 below following another of several snow storms. BRRRRRR!
I think the temps were around 50 when we visited Austin during Christmas 2 years ago.
My family always celebrated gift giving on Christmas Eve, too. Someday Cheezhead John will have to send some thoughts about Ukrainian traditions that he learned from his grandparents.
Merry Christmas to all!
Merry Christmas to all. No snow yet but it's a yucky day with rain her in Cottonwood, Az.
I was at work yesterday, Christmas eve, but we started our luncheon around noon and sat around eating and telling funny stories for several hours. I laughed so hard I thought I would burst. Afterward I went over to Julias's parents and spent some time with Andrew, Julia, Zeland and his Camp Verde grandparents.
Wish I could have spent some time with Aurora and her parents, but I'm grateful for the time we had together at Thanksgiving and celebrating Christmas then.
That does look a little overwhelming for Rora! We're warm today too, I guess we have had all the snow we're getting for a few more years. Have fun, Love, susanna
Robin, we wore our sweaters to block our skin from the sun ;) We did not expect it to be quite so warm. Today wasn't as sunny, but it was warm enough that we did not wear sweaters...
What exactly is an Ugly Doll? Glad to see (though I'm not surprised) that Rora's getting duely spoiled, and I'm glad to see you all had a great Christmas!
Katie, you'll have to google Ugly Dolls. Aurora has a whole collection of them, thanks to Kim Barnett!
Rora also has a few new outfits from Old Navy now thanks to you! I meant to buy things for me and Chuck too, but baby clothes are so much more fun and we need to start stocking up on the 12 month stuff. She got a pair of jeans, some green capris pants, white sweatpants, a teal shirt with a butterfly on it, and a cute long sleeved pink shirt. Yay!!!
