100 Day Weekend

We had a nice, relaxing 3 day weekend. We went on a boat (okay, not really - but we tried a fun restaurant called the Boat House Grill!), and Clark practiced standing up all weekend long (what!?).

We had a great time hanging out with our neighbors, who invited us over for a BBQ and some badminton. Aurora was a pro, as you can see. Mom & Dad came, and even Joey was invited! 

We also went to the LBJ Library, which seemed like a fitting way to spend Memorial Day. 

This morning as I was hugging Aurora goodbye, she said "Mommy, I want to have a 100 day weekend with you." Sweet girl. How cool would it be to take the whole summer off? Today was the first day of summer for her pre-K class and they're planning all kinds of fun field trips and summer activities. Maybe not as fun as playing badminton at Will's house, but luckily we get do both!

Graduation Video

Chuck recorded the whole ceremony and put together a condensed video with highlights from Aurora's big day. "Graduates, always remember to take on challenges, be loving, love learning, laugh, and be all you can be..." If you listen closely, you'll hear Clark talking just about the whole time. Enjoy!

Pre-K Graduation

After months of practicing lines, learning songs, and excited anticipation, tonight Aurora graduated from Pre-K! I honestly didn't realize what a big deal this would be, but it was a serious graduation ceremony. The evening started out a little rough, as we had to park and walk up to One World Theatre through mud and pouring rain, but once everybody arrived the event went off without a hitch.

Aurora and Sofia gave the opening speech, the kids sang several cute songs, we saw a very sweet slideshow, then they each walked up to get their diplomas (which, as Sofia pointed out afterwards, was just a white piece of paper). Aurora smiled and waved the whole time and did such a good job. Chuck did take video, but he may have to do some work to get that ready so we'll see if it ends up here or not. Regardless, it was a very special night. After the 3-day weekend she'll go back to the same school and class for the summer, but Kindergarten is right around the corner!

Random

As much as I try to stick to a theme for each blog post, the last week or so has just been busy with the most random things. Aside from having a ton happening at work, we've been going out with friends, spending lots of time with neighbors, taking some nice walks, and even getting haircuts! Here are a few random pics, and (just because it made us all laugh out loud) the fortune that Clark got at a Chinese restaurant: "A tub and a rub will change our day." That's not a sick baby!

Clarkie had a temperature at school yesterday and was sent home, not to return until he's fever-free for 24 hours. I can appreciate the policy, as I certainly don't want sick kids at daycare spreading germs to my little ones - but our boy is not sick, he's just teething. Lucky for us, Grandma & Grandpa were able to take him today so that Chuck and I could go to work.

It sounds like everybody had a nice day. In fact, mom didn't want to give him back! We ended the evening at Chick-fil-A, which meant cheerios and ice cream for the baby - his favorites! You can certainly see his two bottom teeth clearly now, and the top teeth have started poking through. He had trouble getting to sleep tonight and I know his gums hurt, but here's hoping that fever stays away.

I LOVE my mom because...

The last few days have been full of special gifts, sweet treats, silly cards, a fun sleepover, delicious food, a teething baby, and all the joys of celebrating motherhood - which certainly is a gift in and of itself. I'll admit that time has been getting away from me and I didn't have a chance to send anything to Nancy or Bernice, but we are thinking about you today (and you'll be getting photos in the mail soon!). Much love to all the fabulous mamas and women in our lives. Happy Mother's Day!

Healthy Kids

This week our little boy turned 9 months old, and as I was making his regular well baby appointment it occurred to me that Aurora was due for her 5 year well child visit as well (hey, April was a busy month!). So, we took them both in for what must've been the fastest, easiest, most painless doctor appointment ever. There was no wait, Aurora passed her hearing and vision tests, both kids are healthy, and neither child needed any shots. It almost wasn't worth a blog post!

Clark weighed in about 19 lbs and Aurora just hit 35, putting both kids around the 40th percentile. He may look huge here, but he's sitting in front of her... I say he's still a tiny baby! Clarkie's been teething, and the doctor pointed out that his top gums are really swollen and more teeth are on their way. His bottom two teeth have already come in and they're totally cute. He's still breast feeding and my milk supply has been great, which is good because he isn't as into solid food yet as you'd think. All in all, a great check up. I feel so blessed to have such healthy, happy kids!

School pictures just came in, and while I knew this was going to happen, I was still surprised when I saw how many photos we have to choose from! This time around we got sweet pictures of Aurora, sad pictures of Clarkie, cute sibling poses, and... PRE-K GRADUATION PHOTOS! Can you tell which ones I'm most excited about? I always buy school pictures, even when they aren't great. But this time there are so many, well, this could get expensive! If you had to choose, which pictures get your vote? 

Road Trip!

When Aurora was a baby, we took her everywhere. She went on tons of flights and we took road trips all around Texas. Now that we have Clark, I sort of figured our days of traveling are done - at least for a little while. I mean, flying with two kids? No. Road trips with a baby? Ugh. Well, it didn't take long for me to change my mind, and this weekend we packed up the car and headed to Galveston! I had an itch for a vacation, and while it was no Hollywood Beach, this road trip did not disappoint.

Galveston has a lot to offer as far as touristy stuff goes, but it can get pretty expensive and we only had a short time to visit, so we focused on the less crowded, more kid friendly attractions and just did some sight seeing on our own. It was a nice, relaxing trip and it definitely reminded me how easy it is to get around and see the sites, even with two little kids in tow.
