This week Aurora and I went to visit one-week old baby Larkin.
First, let me just say that Larkin is beautiful (good job Jennifer & Matt!!). One day Rora & Larkin will be friends.
Second, Aurora has turned into a camera hog!
Jennifer took the camera out to take a picture of Betty & Larkin, and we were standing nearby. Well, Aurora just started smiling and hamming it up like she was sure the camera was on her! So, of course, soon the camera WAS on her. Chuck said that happened to him earlier this week as well. He took out the camera, and suddenly she couldn’t stop smiling. How does she know!?
Aurora also had her first encounter with a dog. Joey gave her kisses all over her face, hands, and feet. He’s a good sweet doggie, but I don’t know if Rora knew quite what to think of him...

Aurora is getting so big. Compared with the newborn she looks like giant.
Why do all the boy babies get the hair? I saw a 6 month old baby yesterday at the funeral home. Thought she was a boy. Turns out she was a girl--almost bald still. I guess that's nature's way of keeping us all humble. When the hair turns up, we are really grateful. Grandma Nancy
Come to think of it, Aurora's daddy as a baby didn't have much hair for a long time. His brother, too. Grandma Nancy
It seems to me that the dark haired babies must come out with more hair than the light-haired babies. Eh... more likely it's probably just random! I think Aurora's bald head is perfect though - I can hardly imagine her with hair (or teeth for that matter), but we're looking forward to blond whispy curls :)
oh amber! that first picture of Rora looking down at baby Larkin is one of the best things I've ever seen. just from her sillouette, you can see her combination of curiosity and sweetness. i love it.
Potential Solutions for Baldness:
A cute little western hat or Cheezhead wedge cap would quickly solve the problem, chuckle, chuckle. After all, Aurora is a native Texas gal. And, at Irish Fest, the Irish female dancers, including the very young girls, wear cute dress outfits & very curly wigs.
By the way, Western hats are still popular. The lead singer for Gaelic Storm (the band that performed in the movie, Titanic) requested John's western hat to wear while singing one of his songs last night. We'll e-mail some photos for you.
